Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Colts robbed the room for Emmanwori. Final grade: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Colts watched Nick Emmanwori slide 37 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In pick 14 they get a security blanket over the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in the 56th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick80 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
They read the board right and Quinshon Judkins was the payoff at No. 80. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
By-the-book stuff, Danny Stutsman at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick109 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in slot 109 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong at Round 4, Pick 15 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick151 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
The board had Hollin Pierce higher than pick No. 151, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Seth McLaughlin
Nice patience on Seth McLaughlin, who had no business lasting to the 181st pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick189 Rnd6 Chase Lundt
A tidy bit of business in pick 189, where Chase Lundt graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick232 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at pick No. 232 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
