Draft Grade — 49ers

Grand theft in the 189th pick: the 49ers steal Membou and grade out a C+. The rest of the league will want that one back. Armand Membou tumbling to the 49ers in the Round 6 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Martin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will answer for taking specialist early while quarterback went begging. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Benjamin Morrison
In the 11th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner, though the board says they badly overpaid. More want than need.
Pick43
Rnd2
Grey Zabel
Grey Zabel slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
A running back of that caliber at slot 75 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Kobe King
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kobe King this early at pick No. 99. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick112
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Taking Andrew Mukuba in pick 112 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick138
Rnd4
Alex Mastromanno
Of all the spots to shop, they chose specialist. Alex Mastromanno in No. 138 leaves quarterback for later.
Pick139
Rnd4
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
A real head-scratcher, KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 139th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick148
Rnd5
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland in Round 5, Pick 9 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick189
Rnd6
Armand Membou
Armand Membou in pick 189 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick228
Rnd7
Chandler Martin
Chandler Martin in the 228th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232
Rnd7
Tommy Akingbesote
Tommy Akingbesote at slot 232 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick255
Rnd7
Miles Frazier
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Miles Frazier at Round 7, Pick 37 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
