HeySissy DRAFTING FOR THEBengals

Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

The Bengals did enough to get by: C. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bengals spent No. 81 on Giles Jackson, a name the board had a full 263 spots lower.
They banked enough surplus on Burch to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Nic Scourton
In No. 17 they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all.
Pick49
Rnd2
Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles at Round 2, Pick 17 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Giles Jackson
Giles Jackson at the 81st pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick118
Rnd4
Cam Horsley
They reached into another round for Cam Horsley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick154
Rnd5
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in slot 154 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at the 195th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
