Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
D
ValueF

FutureB-
Not the weekend the Cardinals were hoping for: D. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tyreem Powell in No. 16, a good 291 spots before the room expected him. Put together, it is a D.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Tyreem Powell
In pick 16 they get a green-dot type in the middle, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Jacobe Covington
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jacobe Covington this early at the Round 2 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick78
Rnd3
Emery Jones Jr.
They talked themselves into Emery Jones Jr. at the 78th overall pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Tory Horton
A clean, defensible pick in No. 114 with a little surplus value in Tory Horton. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick153
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at Round 5, Pick 14 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
