HeySissy DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueA+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Ward should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Cam Ward had no business being available in the Round 4 slot, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter is a better player than pick No. 18 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick50
Rnd2
Shemar Stewart
They robbed the room for Shemar Stewart here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82
Rnd3
Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at Round 3, Pick 18 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick92
Rnd3
Wyatt Milum
Steal is underselling it; Wyatt Milum at No. 92 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137
Rnd4
Cam Ward
Somehow Cam Ward was still sitting there in the 137th pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jayden Higgins
Taking Jayden Higgins in pick 173 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick187
Rnd6
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in slot 187 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick212
Rnd6
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick236
Rnd7
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
