Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesC+ FutureB-
The Steelers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

It is a puzzling start. The Steelers had quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots to solve and reached instead for Zach Frazier, an offensive lineman, at the Round 2 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Frazier lower, and that gap is the story.

The Sainristil pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
In the 26th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman and leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick84 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil slipping to Round 3, Pick 20 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick92 Rnd3 Javon Baker
Javon Baker at pick No. 92 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick98 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in No. 98 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash at pick 119 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick195 Rnd6 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at slot 195 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
