Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Ravens this weekend: D.

The Ravens clearly saw something nobody else did in Phillip Webb, taking him 92 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. It is not that Borregales is a bad player; it is that the Ravens had louder needs to answer first. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Donovan Ezeiruaku
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get juice off the edge, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
A conviction pick on Donovan Jackson at pick 53 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick60 Rnd2 Darien Porter
They paid up for Darien Porter at the 60th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Fair-plus on Andrew Mukuba, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick95 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant at No. 95 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick109 Rnd4 Cody Simon
Cody Simon in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick129 Rnd4 Tyler Shough
A reach for Tyler Shough in pick No. 129; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick130 Rnd4 Logan Brown
The board had cheaper options than Logan Brown at the 130th overall pick, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132 Rnd4 O'Donnell Fortune
They reached a country mile for O'Donnell Fortune at Round 4, Pick 30, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick133 Rnd4 Ty Robinson
They reached into another round for Ty Robinson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134 Rnd4 Andres Borregales
A want over a need in slot 134: Andres Borregales adds a specialist while running back keeps waiting.
Pick176 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
No edge and no loss on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 176; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick183 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jay Higgins well ahead of where he belonged. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick203 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
Good price on KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the Round 6 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick210 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
They paid sticker price for Luke Lachey in Round 6, Pick 34, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick212 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Nothing to complain about; Nazir Stackhouse went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick243 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at pick 243 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick257 Rnd7 Phillip Webb
A real head-scratcher, Phillip Webb in slot 257 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
