A franchise passer in Williams headlines a D- weekend for the Bears.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 66 spots for Tanner McLachlan, and value like that does not grow back. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McCaffrey.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
