Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesD FutureA
Daniels is the plan now, and the Commanders grade out a B-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Getting Hardy where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The cost of the Solomon reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will answer for taking OLB-EDGE early while tight end and interior defensive lineman went begging.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 5 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Graham Barton
Graham Barton slipping to slot 36 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick37 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at No. 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick40 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the 40th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick93 Rnd3 Cam Hart
Cam Hart in the 93rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Javon Solomon
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 3, Pick 36 on Javon Solomon with tight end and interior defensive lineman unsolved.
Pick101 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in pick 101 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick138 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick222 Rnd7 Kendall Milton
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kendall Milton in the 222nd pick, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick228 Rnd7 Daequan Hardy
The board fumbled Daequan Hardy all the way to pick 228, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
