Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent slot 100 on Damien Martinez, a name the board had a full 56 spots lower. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Restrepo falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In slot 11 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at No. 75 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick100 Rnd3 Damien Martinez
They left a pile of value on the table to take Damien Martinez this early at pick No. 100. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick113 Rnd4 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant at Round 4, Pick 11 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 138, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick147 Rnd5 Xavier Restrepo
Circle this one: Xavier Restrepo at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160 Rnd5 Sai'vion Jones
Sai'vion Jones at Round 5, Pick 22 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick227 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
They let Robert Longerbeam come to them and pounced at No. 227. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at the 249th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick252 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
Fair-plus on Thomas Fidone II, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
