Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B

NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. The Bears' one glaring miss is cornerback, a need they left exactly as they found it.
They banked enough surplus on Harmon to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Burch pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
A clean, defensible pick in No. 10 with a little surplus value in Ashton Jeanty. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick39
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
The board had Derrick Harmon higher than pick No. 39, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick41
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at pick 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at the 76th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
