Of all the ways to open, the Browns chose the head-scratcher, spending pick 24 on Sonny Styles with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still wide open. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Slaughter pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
