Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesD- FutureA+
The Falcons got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the B.

The Falcons lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They banked enough surplus on Muhammad to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Restrepo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey at Round 2, Pick 12 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick74 Rnd3 Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II at slot 74 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109 Rnd4 Beau Brade
No edge and no loss on Beau Brade in pick 109; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick112 Rnd4 Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent in the 112th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick145 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Travis in No. 145. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150 Rnd5 Sincere Haynesworth
Sincere Haynesworth at the 150th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick189 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Gabe Hall. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick201 Rnd6 Xavier Restrepo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Xavier Restrepo well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jabbar Muhammad
Nice patience on Jabbar Muhammad, who had no business lasting to the 244th overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
