JTye420 DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Falcons bet the future on Daniels. The board says B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Falcons spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They are betting Hall proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Hart pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back, tight end and other spots still on the board. They banked enough surplus on Bullard to cover a lot of smaller sins.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
No drama and no debate, T.J. Tampa went about where he belonged in the 43rd overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick48
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 48 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick74
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Legette. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick79
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
They robbed the room for Javon Bullard here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick108
Rnd4
Cam Hart
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 108th pick on Cam Hart with running back, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick142
Rnd5
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at pick 142 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick186
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
This one needs a full-page explanation: Gabe Hall in No. 186, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick196
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
No edge and no loss on Joe Milton III in pick 196; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
