JTye420 DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Maye, and a B, for the Falcons. The search is over. The Falcons handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick 8 they get their quarterback of the future. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
Ladd McConkey
The board had Ladd McConkey higher than slot 43, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick74
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Calen Bullock. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick79
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
They did well to land Xavier Legette in the 79th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Davis at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick142
Rnd5
Javon Foster
Javon Foster at Round 5, Pick 6 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick199
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
By-the-book stuff, Jared Wiley at pick No. 199 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
