Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesC+ FutureB-
A passer of the future in Daniels, and a B, for the Falcons.

Start where it matters. The Falcons took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Getting Smith-Wade where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Byron Murphy II. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jermaine Burton
They will replay Jermaine Burton at slot 74 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Blake Fisher at the 109th pick is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick145 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
The board fumbled Tommy Eichenberg all the way to pick 145, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick189 Rnd6 Chau Smith-Wade
Taking Chau Smith-Wade in No. 189 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick201 Rnd6 Isaiah Davis
A running back of that caliber at pick No. 201 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick244 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus at the 244th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
