A costly weekend of dealing drags the Patriots to a C.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Patriots shredded theirs for Gino Garcia. He came off 86 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Call it a C and check back in two years.

However the rest shakes out, Bond at that price is a win they earned. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Parrish pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, safety and other spots.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

In pick 30 they get a red-zone target to build around at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Will Johnson
Will Johnson at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylin Noel in the 69th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

They read the board right and Cameron Williams was the payoff at pick No. 77. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick106 Rnd4 Isaiah Bond
Somehow Isaiah Bond was still sitting there in the 106th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

They took Anthony Belton at par in slot 109, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jacob Parrish adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher, safety and other spots untouched.

Gino Garcia in Round 7, Pick 1 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.

Cam Jackson at pick 220 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
