It is the swing that defines the weekend: AJ Barner in the 128th overall pick, a good 33 spots before the room expected him.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Barner pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher. Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
