You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Reaching for Johnson left real value on the table behind him.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. With cornerback unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

That Vidal pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
