The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. The Bears indulged a want in Smith while a need in interior defensive lineman stayed open. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Irving.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
