A franchise passer in Daniels headlines a D weekend for the Bears.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The Solomon pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Johnson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

That Jackson pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
