Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a D-.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots. Barner has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

That McGlothern pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Xavier Worthy at the 74th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.

They jumped the gun on Blake Corum, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
