Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: D-.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The Williams pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots still on the board.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Limmer to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Getting Franklin where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In No. 9 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Troy Franklin in the 52nd pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Blake Corum
Fair-plus on Blake Corum, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick84 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick No. 111 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick120 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in slot 120; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick121 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Value said wait; Beaux Limmer in the 121st overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick123 Rnd4 James Williams
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots to take James Williams, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick143 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in pick 143, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.
