The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: F.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.

Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Reaching for Barner left real value on the table behind him.

They will answer for taking DT-EDGE early while interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots went begging. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers. Trotter Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
