hrm991 DRAFTING FOR THEGiants
Draft Selections
Draft Picks Received

Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Giants a B. Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Giants will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They will need Allen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Landing Bullard that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 27th pick they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan at the 35th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick47
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
Fair-plus on T'Vondre Sweat, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick66
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
A quiet steal in No. 66: Javon Bullard for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70
Rnd3
Max Melton
A reach for Max Melton in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
Braelon Allen
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Braelon Allen. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick107
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
They jumped the gun on Theo Johnson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick141
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
They paid a round early for Luke McCaffrey in pick No. 141, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
The board had cheaper options than Curtis Jacobs at the 183rd pick, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
