Draft Grade — Colts

FutureB-
The Colts did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. There is reaching, and then there is Steven Parker at the Round 5 slot. The Colts jumped the board by 220 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Leonard makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In pick No. 14 they get a mismatch in the passing game. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in No. 45 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick80
Rnd3
Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick117
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at the 117th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick151
Rnd5
Steven Parker
They reached a country mile for Steven Parker at the 151st overall pick, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick189
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
They robbed the room for Kyle Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick232
Rnd7
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard in the 232nd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
