The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Stowers: B-.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Eli Stowers, the No. 68 name on the board, sitting there at the 90th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The cost of the Lomu reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In pick No. 26 they get a blindside protector, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jaeden Roberts
A conviction pick on Jaeden Roberts at the 59th pick that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Somehow Eli Stowers was still sitting there in pick 90, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at slot 127 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
The board had Jalon Kilgore higher than the Round 4 slot, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick138 Rnd4 Chris Johnson
You do not let a cornerback like Chris Johnson reach No. 138 and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick171 Rnd5 J'Mari Taylor
J'Mari Taylor in the 171st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
