The board owed the Browns one, and it paid up: TJ Hall, the No. 220 name on the board, sitting there at the 248th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
