Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D+
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesF FutureD+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Ravens to a D+.

Nobody else had Hayden Conner anywhere near No. 204. The Ravens did, by 61 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Spending an early pick on safety with running back and quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 30th overall pick they get a downhill hitter at safety at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick38 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
A conviction pick on Donovan Ezeiruaku at pick No. 38 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick56 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They took Alfred Collins at par in Round 2, Pick 24, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
A tidy little value on Jayden Higgins in No. 62, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick91 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Andrew Mukuba while clear needs at running back and quarterback sat open.
Pick99 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 99th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
They paid a round early for Emery Jones Jr. in the 111th pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126 Rnd4 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dont'e Thornton Jr.. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick137 Rnd4 Ryan Fitzgerald
A surprising call. With running back and quarterback still to address, they spent Round 4, Pick 35 on Ryan Fitzgerald, a specialist they were not short of.
Pick149 Rnd5 Logan Brown
Logan Brown in pick 149 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
A reach for Oronde Gadsden II in No. 177; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in slot 203 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick204 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at the 204th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
They paid up for Cam Jackson at pick No. 220 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
