Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jarquez Hunter got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at Round 7, Pick 1.

They will need Dumas-Johnson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
