FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Packers. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If West pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick49
Rnd2
Trey Amos
By-the-book stuff, Trey Amos at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick54
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
They did well to land Marcus Mbow in the 54th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick81
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Good price on Isaiah Bond in slot 81, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant at pick 87 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick119
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
A reach for Nohl Williams in Round 4, Pick 17; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick124
Rnd4
Cody Simon
A straight-up fair deal on Cody Simon at the 124th pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick159
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
The board had cheaper options than Seth McLaughlin at No. 159, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick198
Rnd6
Addison West
A reach on Addison West in pick No. 198; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick237
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Nothing to complain about; Bilhal Kone went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick250
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
They paid sticker price for Zeek Biggers in pick No. 250, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
