FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for Howard: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Will Howard tumbling to the Packers in No. 136 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Colby to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In slot 27 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Tre Harris
No edge and no loss on Tre Harris in Round 2, Pick 22; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
A slide stopped in No. 87, with Isaiah Bond worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick91
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at pick 91 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Pick124
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton slid further than he should have, and the 124th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick129
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Nohl Williams at pick No. 129, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick136
Rnd4
Will Howard
They robbed the room for Will Howard here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick159
Rnd5
Connor Colby
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Connor Colby well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick198
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
Caleb Rogers in the 198th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick203
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jason Marshall Jr.. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick237
Rnd7
Ricky White III
Ricky White III in the 237th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
A tidy bit of business in pick 250, where Jabbar Muhammad graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
