Nobody dealt better than the Packers this weekend: B. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Packers, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They will need Conner to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Getting Bond where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Mike Green
In No. 25 they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
They read the board right and Derrick Harmon was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick69
Rnd3
Cameron Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Cameron Williams at the 69th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick87
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at the 87th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick89
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant in pick 89 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick107
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
A wild overpay on Nohl Williams in pick No. 107, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Kalel Mullings
Kalel Mullings at Round 5, Pick 21 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick237
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at slot 237 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
