A costly weekend of dealing drags the Browns to a D.

The Browns did not so much draft Shemar James as overpay for him, 42 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
