Draft Grade — Lions
Overall A-
ValueA NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB
Laumea should have been long gone. The Lions pounced, and earned a A-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Sataoa Laumea got past him. The Lions do not have to explain a thing at slot 205.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

They went 3 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
A quiet steal in the Round 1 slot: Kool-Aid McKinstry for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick59 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter slid further than he should have, and pick No. 59 is lovely value for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick76 Rnd3 JC Latham
They robbed the room for JC Latham here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Keon Coleman
Somehow Keon Coleman was still sitting there in pick 91, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick205 Rnd6 Sataoa Laumea
You do not let an offensive lineman like Sataoa Laumea reach No. 205 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick248 Rnd7 Ricky White
Ricky White at the 248th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
