The jury is out on the 49ers. For now, C+.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The 49ers took Thor Griffith a full 64 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

Spending an early pick on safety with running back, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Emmanwori.

A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
