A costly weekend of dealing drags the Steelers to a D.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Steelers would have aced it. Collin Oliver at No. 250 is 41 spots clear of where he belonged. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Emmanwori at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
