Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA FutureB-
The Commanders let Scott fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Justin Scott, the No. 25 name on the board, stolen at Round 3, Pick 14.

That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Leonard Moore
Leonard Moore in the 11th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick30 Rnd1 Damon Wilson II
In pick No. 30 they get a problem off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Nick Marsh
They took Nick Marsh at par in the 37th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
Kade Pieper in Round 3, Pick 5 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick78 Rnd3 Justin Scott
Steal is underselling it; Justin Scott at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jaylen McClain
Jaylen McClain at pick 106 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick128 Rnd4 Raylen Wilson
They let Raylen Wilson come to them and pounced at No. 128. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick142 Rnd5 Earl Little Jr.
Earl Little Jr. slipping to slot 142 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick183 Rnd6 Mateen Ibirogba
Nice patience on Mateen Ibirogba, who had no business lasting to the 183rd overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick225 Rnd7 Kayin Lee
Somehow Kayin Lee was still sitting there in pick No. 225, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
