Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B-

TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cardinals a B-. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Cardinals walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the 16th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
A real head-scratcher, Cameron Williams in pick 47 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick78
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in slot 78 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick115
Rnd4
Jamaree Caldwell
They jumped the gun on Jamaree Caldwell, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick152
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
They reached a country mile for Jonah Monheim at the 152nd overall pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad in No. 225 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
