Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chiefs took Rylie Mills a full 38 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The Monangai pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Tyleik Williams
In No. 31 they get a disruptive interior force, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick63 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
They read the board right and Harold Fannin Jr. was the payoff at slot 63. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They took Donovan Jackson at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick95 Rnd3 Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills at the 95th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa is a better player than pick No. 133 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick226 Rnd7 Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai in pick 226 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Pick251 Rnd7 Bru McCoy
Bru McCoy at Round 7, Pick 35 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick257 Rnd7 Alijah Clark
They paid sticker price for Alijah Clark in No. 257, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
