Draft Grade — Colts
Overall

FutureB-
The Colts kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Smael Mondon Jr.; the Colts did not wait, grabbing him 30 spots ahead at the Round 3 slot. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Loveland. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In pick 14 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value.
Pick45
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
You do not let a tight end like Colston Loveland reach No. 45 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick80
Rnd3
Smael Mondon Jr.
They talked themselves into Smael Mondon Jr. at the 80th pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at the 117th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick151
Rnd5
Logan Brown
They did well to land Logan Brown in pick No. 151, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick189
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
No edge and no loss on Jaylen Reed in Round 6, Pick 13; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick232
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone at No. 232 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
