Tstert DRAFTING FOR THEVikings
Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Vikings, and a B- to prove it. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Vikings never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If James pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
By-the-book stuff, Luther Burden III at the 24th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jordan James
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan James. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tommi Hill well ahead of where he belonged. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick187
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
A reach for Joshua Gray in pick 187; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
