Puni should have been long gone. The Chargers pounced, and earned a A.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Dominick Puni, Round 5, Pick 4, roughly 52 picks past where he belonged.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

It is not that Trotter Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Chargers had louder needs to answer first. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Bottom line, with Brock Bowers leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
