Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Gordon II should have been long gone. The Raiders pounced, and earned a B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Ollie Gordon II slide 40 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Howard reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the 6th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
By-the-book stuff, Jihaad Campbell at slot 37 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick68
Rnd3
Will Howard
They talked themselves into Will Howard at Round 3, Pick 4, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick108
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Nice patience on Savion Williams, who had no business lasting to pick 108. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143
Rnd5
Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel in No. 143 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick180
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
They reached into another round for Caleb Rogers, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick213
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 213 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Joshua Gray graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick222
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 6, with R.J. Mickens worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
