Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Martinez should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Damien Martinez slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at Round 6, Pick 35. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They are betting Pegues proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the Round 1 slot they get a bell-cow for the offense at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick44 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka slipping to the 44th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
A quiet steal in pick No. 76: Donovan Jackson for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick149 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at slot 149 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick171 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
Value with a capital V on Tommi Hill in No. 171, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick174 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at Round 5, Pick 36 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in pick 204 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Damien Martinez
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Damien Martinez in the 211th pick, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick239 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson in slot 239 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jabbar Muhammad
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jabbar Muhammad at the 247th pick is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
