Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Chargers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Chad Lindberg at pick No. 226. The Chargers jumped the board by 25 and dared it to prove them wrong. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That Gore Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In pick 5 they get a red-zone target to build around. A real need, handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
They read the board right and Troy Franklin was the payoff at the 37th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 Blake Corum
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Corum. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick105 Rnd4 Bucky Irving
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Bucky Irving worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick142 Rnd5 LaDarius Henderson
A reach for LaDarius Henderson in Round 5, Pick 6; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick183 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 183 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick226 Rnd7 Chad Lindberg
They left a pile of value on the table to take Chad Lindberg this early at slot 226. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
