Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+.

The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to Caleb Williams, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Williams pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back and linebacker still on the board.

The Williams pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Landing Sweat that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick35 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
No drama and no debate, Chop Robinson went about where he belonged in pick 35. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick55 Rnd2 Graham Barton
Good price on Graham Barton in slot 55, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75 Rnd3 T'Vondre Sweat
Quietly one of the better values of the day, T'Vondre Sweat at the 75th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick77 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Roman Wilson. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick110 Rnd4 Beau Brade
They paid sticker price for Beau Brade in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick111 Rnd4 James Williams
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with James Williams while clear needs at running back and linebacker sat open.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
They went early on Ben Sinnott in pick 128, and the value did not follow. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cam Hart
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cam Hart in the Round 5 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick197 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
A clean, defensible pick in No. 197 with a little surplus value in Andrew Raym. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
