Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

FutureA
The Chiefs won the night they stopped Hecht from sliding. Grade: A-. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Chiefs, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Hecht falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In the end it comes back to Sonny Styles, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 24th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick29
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
Good price on Olaivavega Ioane in pick No. 29, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick40
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Anthony Hill Jr.. The roster fit checks out.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jake Golday
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jake Golday at Round 3, Pick 6 is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
Taking Jadarian Price in No. 92 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Darrell Jackson Jr.
A quiet steal in pick 109: Darrell Jackson Jr. for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick112
Rnd4
Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht in slot 112 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146
Rnd5
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels slipping to pick No. 146 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick148
Rnd5
Tim Keenan III
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 8 with a little surplus value in Tim Keenan III. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick176
Rnd5
Bryce Boettcher
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bryce Boettcher at the Round 5 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick210
Rnd6
Jadon Canady
Jadon Canady in the 210th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
