Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA
The Bears won the night they stopped Everette from sliding. Grade: A-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Everette. The Hubbard pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher and quarterback. They are betting Price proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
In the end it comes back to Anthony Hill Jr., and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
No edge and no loss on Anthony Hill Jr. in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick55
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dillon Thieneman. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick78
Rnd3
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette at the 78th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82
Rnd3
Eric Singleton Jr.
Eric Singleton Jr. at pick No. 82 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jadarian Price
They talked themselves into Jadarian Price at Round 4, Pick 12, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127
Rnd4
Bray Hubbard
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Bray Hubbard in the 127th overall pick leaves edge rusher and quarterback for later.
Pick158
Rnd5
Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves in the 158th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick159
Rnd5
Zane Durant
They liked Zane Durant enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 159. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick232
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Nothing to complain about; Trey Zuhn III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245
Rnd7
Barion Brown
A quiet steal in slot 245: Barion Brown for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick252
Rnd7
Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona at the 252nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
