The 49ers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C.

The 49ers bet big and early on Thomas Fidone II, 119 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.

The Lambert-Smith steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

So much rides on Emeka Egbuka that the real verdict is a season or two away.
